A BOLTON organisation is looking for local folk who need a helping hand.

And Bolton Round Table members aim to provide one - so long as people genuinely need help, and it doesn't cost a fortune.

To highlight Round Table Day on Saturday, March 20, the local organisation aims to "give something back to the community of Bolton", said their community service officer Mark Sheen.

"We would like people to write to the BEN to nominate a worthy cause or need which we could help by using our time and contacts."

Round Table is not offering cash donations, although if the project does involve a small cost (like buying paint to decorate a room), they would still consider it.

But they are happy to help an individual or an organisation "to make their life or their own community service better".

Three of the most worthy tasks requested will be selected, and the work or task carried out around the time of Round Table Day.

Bolton Round Table was founded in 1948 and celebrated 50 years last year with a successful charter night.

Although only a small group currently, it regularly raises large amounts for local charities and in the last 12 months has run events ranging from a golf tournament to the annual snowman's charity appeal.

Added Mark: "We are happy to hear, for example, from elderly people wanting a lift somewhere special, or someone who just wants their garden digging and they can't do it themselves. There are bound to be many different projects out there."
