A BOLTON father fighting to see his snatched son is making a last desperate appeal.
Ian Lomax, has to raise £6,500 to pay for a lawyer after his son Christopher was kidnapped by his Greek wife nearly 2,000 miles from their Alder Street home in Great Lever.
Mr Lomax must now stop a custody hearing taking place in Athens on March 25.
He said: "I am now frantic about what is going to happen.
"All I want to do is see my son.
"If I do not employ one of the better lawyers then I might as well forget ever seeing him again."
As reported in the BEN, seven-year-old Christopher is being held by his mother, Helen, in Greece as his father, Ian, fights to bring him home.
Campaigners face a race against time to raise funds to pay a top Greek lawyer to appeal against a court decision which ruled Christopher should stay in Greece.
Mr Lomax and his family believe the judge acted against the Hague Convention and broke international law over child custody.
The fund currently stands at £1,500 after kind-hearted folk from as far away as Cambridge and Essex as well as Bolton contributed cash, boosting other fund raising efforts by Mr Lomax.
Family friend Dorothy Martland, who is helping to organise the Ian Lomax Appeal Fund, said: "I appeal to everyone in Bolton to make a contribution to the fund to enable Ian to have the custody battle heard in this country.
"I have begged Helen to allow Ian access to his son but she fears that if Christopher were to learn the truth, then he would want to be with his father." Pensioners join the fight A GROUP of pensioners touched by Mr Lomax's plight have decided to pitch in to help raise funds.
The elderly residents, who all live in warden-controlled homes, are organising a bring-and-buy sale at their community centre at Roosevelt Road, Kearsley, next Wednesday, from 1pm to 4pm.
The admission price of 50p will include tea and biscuits and a raffle ticket to win a bottle of whisky.
There is also a charity celebrity gala evening to boost the Christopher Lomax Appeal at The Temple/Mondo nightclub on March 24.
The club has offered free use of its facilities to Mr Lomax and has pledged the public will be treated to a celebrity line-up.
Admission to the gala evening will be by donation on the door - minimum £5.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the Appeal Fund can make donations at branches of Barclays Bank quoting the sort code 20-10-71, account number 30657298.
