CELLNET has acquired the mobile telecommunications arm of Warrington-based Martin Dawes.
The new owners say they will manage Martin Dawes Telecommunications as a separate business unit retaining the management team and the existing workforce of around 1,300 based mainly in Warrington and the North-west.
Cellnet says MDT, which has around 800,000 customers, has been particularly successful in servicing corporate customers and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Mr Hugh Logan, Cellnet's Director of Sales and Service, said: "The deal is good news for Warrington and the North-west and underlines our commitment to develop Cellnet as a truly national and international business.
"The UK mobile phone market is experiencing phenomenal growth and together Cellnet and Martin Dawes Telecommunications are well-placed to seize the business opportunities."
