A HORWICH firm engraved the specially decorated crystal flute glasses presented to the Queen during a recent tour of London's theatre scene.

The work was carried out by Glastex Manufacturing Ltd of Chorley New Road, whose brand name is Lancashire Crystal.

The glasses, which were engraved with the badge of The Society of London Theatre, were presented during a performance of Oklahoma.

Managing Director Paul Openshaw points out that the Queen already has one piece of crystal engraved by Glastex Manufacturing Ltd.

This was the large bowl commissioned by the Duke of Westminster and presented during a royal visit to commemorate the opening of the Market Place in Bolton.

"The Queen is not the only member of the royal household to have crystal produced by Glastex," Mr Openshaw said.

"Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother has a bowl which was produced by Glastex for her 80th birthday and Charles may still have a pair of Lancashire Crystal goblets we engraved to commemorate his marriage to Diana Spencer."
