BOLTON band, the Pachinos are preparing to launch their very own brand of punk pop onto an unsuspecting public with the release on Monday of their debut double A side single, Violent Sun and Smash. Released on the More music Manchester label, the single is part of a three singles, one album deal the boys have secured with the independent record company. The line up is Phil on drums, Pete on guitar and vocals, Donk on guitar and Dan on bass.

Main songwriter is Phil and he says that his tunes are based on personal experience.

So what's Violent Sun all about? "It's a statement against the music industry," he explains. "An attack on it. And it's coupled with Smash, which is more pop orientated, and that's about pressure."

The boys are currently on a mini-tour of the country to promote the single, and have already taken in venues as diverse as the Witchwood In Ashton-u-Lyne, the Attic in Edinburgh, Leopard in Doncaster and the Adelphi in Preston.

The lads, who have known each other for years, have always played in bands - not necessarily together. And it was about 18 months ago that they got together as a unit.

"It just seemed to flow," said Pete.

All in their early 20s, the lads name their influences as punk bands like The Clash and The Buzzcocks, bands who made pop songs with an edge.

And they seem to know exactly what they want to achieve. "World domination," jokes Phil. "Seriously, we just want to make music that's worth listening to. And we don't want to be like those bands on TOTP who all look the same and sound the same. They're just so bland."

The debut single, will be available from independent record shops from Monday.
