BARRIE Hetherington asks: Who is this Tidy Britain Group and how do they allocate their Awards?
This was under the headlineTidy Britain Group should come round here! (Your views, March 5).
Tidy Britain Group is an independent national charity, that works closely with volunteers, businesses and local councils to help improve the local environment.
We gave Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council two People and Places Awards because, put simply, we felt they deserved them. Under People and Places, Manager Trevor Leese, Bolton, has worked tirelessly to get a good environmental message across to the people of the town. It has also encouraged scores of volunteers to get involved in clean-up campaigns like Roadside Care and National Spring Clean.
Barrie Hetherington also asks have we been down Seymour Road recently? Tidy Britain Group regularly surveys many areas of the UK, but without limitless resources we simply cannot visit every road in Britain. If there is a problem with Seymour Road, might we ask he contact Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council? We are sure they would be happy to work in partnership with him to help resolve any difficulties there. Alternatively, he could contact our Information Service. We are always willing to offer advice on how to help get street cleansing problems resolved.
