ON April 12, 1999, I shall be leaving Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and taking up a new appointment as Her Majesty's Inspector of Fire Services.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for giving me, as Chief Fire Officer, your support and for the constructive and interesting discussions we have had over the past seven years.
For me it has been a fascinating and enjoyable 36 year career and a privilege to have commanded such a fine brigade.
I wish both the Chorley Citizen and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service every success in the future.
Gordon Russel, Chief Fire Officer.
