A HOTEL could soon open at Bolton's historic Smithills Coaching House.
A planning application has been put in for a two-storey extension to the Grade Two listed building.
Bolton Cllr Cliff Morris, managing director, said that it was planned to build a 32-bedroomed development.

The project would involve using the present Cottage Suite in addition to the extension.
Cllr Morris said: "It will enable us to extend the facilities we can offer.
"We have weddings here and we are often asked by the bride and groom if they can stay over. Until now, we have not had any rooms.
"The extension will fit into the style of the rest of the hotel."
