RESPONSE to a mobile security scheme for Little Lever has been so poor that its organiser is considering pulling out.
Before Christmas former security guard Peter Murray started sending out leaflets to hundreds of homes in the area offering to run a night time mobile patrol.
In return for touring the streets in his car, reporting anything suspicious to the police, Mr Murray would charge home owners £2 a week.
But so few people have replied to his hand-delivered "Home Security" leaflets that the security guard, who lives in Radcliffe, says it may not be worth his while operating in the area.
Despite distributing thousands of leaflets Mr Murray says he has had just 20 replies from people in Little Lever.
"I need 200 plus customers to make it viable," he said. "I am still deciding whether to abandon it or not."
Four years ago Mr Murray tried to set up a similar scheme in Bury but the idea did not take off.
His new "Home Security" operation would have him and a security guard friend touring an area's streets in uniform and acting as a deterrent to criminals.
"I am not there to apprehend. I am there to prevent," he said.
