YET again Little Lever Post Office has been robbed by thugs using shotguns, in what used to be a very quiet village.
In recent years the post office has changed its entrance from the front of the paper shop on the main shopping area to its present position at the side of the car park and a rear, very badly lit entrance
The post office will become a no-go area as the people of Little Lever, in particular the old people, who rely on the post office to cash their well deserved pensions, become too scared to use this very important meeting point of the village community.
I would urge the post office and the newsagents to put their heads together and use common sense and open the shutter between the post office and the newsagents and then shut the rear door near the ginnel, thus helping to prevent this ever happening again.
By them taking this action, it would allow security for the post office and extra income from the sale of goods from the passing trade into the post office via the newsagent's.
We can't let people like this wreck our village community but, equally, we all want to be safe wherever we conduct our business. If this entrance problem is not solved very quickly then the next thing we will have is the post office will close because people are not using it.
Little Lever is becoming a joke, a part time police presence, a police station that opens very little and patrolled by specials rather than regular officers.
