SPEAKING on 'Marriage as a Sex Relationship' in the series of Bolton Marriage Guidance Council lectures last evening, Dr G. Bowen, of Birkenhead, told her audience that she did not believe in long engagements. Twelve months, in her opinion, quite long enough. Economically there was never a "right" time to get married. Her advice was for people to marry young and to have children early, if possible.

SIR,- Allow me, through the medium of your valuable paper, to draw the attention of the Railway authorities to the desirability of running a later train between Manchester and Bolton on the Sunday evening, the last one at present, 8.15, being at least one hour too soon. If I am wishful to attend service with the friends that I spend Sunday afternoons with in Manchester, I am compelled to leave before service closes, and hurry off to the station in order to be in time for the last train home, viz. 8.15. I have no doubt but that my case is applicable to many others. I believe there is scarcely another district to which there is not a late train on a Sunday evening. For instance, I find there are at least three later trains to Ashton and Stalybridge after the last one to an important town like Bolton. This, I think you will agree me, looks rather hard. I cannot think I am asking for something at all un reasonable, taking into consideration the very large amount of passenger traffic between this town and Manchester. I hope the powers that be, after having this grievance laid before them, will try to add a little more to the convenience of their supporters in BOLTON.
