WORRIED residents are campaigning for speed humps in their street to protect their children from serious injuries.
Members of a residents' group in Beechcroft Avenue, Darcy Lever, fear a child will be seriously injured or even killed if no action is taken.
A series of road accidents involving young children has raised concerns in the neighbourhood.
In the latest incident, five-year-old Cameron Finch needed stitches and suffered cuts and bruises to his head in a collision with a car.
His aunt, Samantha Wallwork, said: "He was very lucky and it could have been a lot worse.
"There have been other incidents like this and we want something done to protect our children."
A petition is being organised in the street to step up pressure for speed humps.
But a Bolton Council spokesman said: "We have made a detailed assessment of Beechcroft Avenue.
"We have a detailed points system to see if a road should be placed on our priority list.
"In this case it did not reach that points total."
