PUPILS from Little Lever took part in their most ambitious live video link ever when they swapped stories with students from a college in Bolton's twin town of Le Mans in France. The video link came about because Year 10 pupils at Little Lever High School had won top spot in an initiative organised by the local education authority in Le Mans, Conseil General de la Sarthe.
Head of drama, Lynne Glen, explained that the project required pupils to find out as much information on the Le Sarthe region as they could from the Internet. And because the majority of information was in French, this demanded quite a bit of language skill from the pupils in Bolton.
On top of the video link, the pupils from Little Lever also won £600 from coming out top of the class.
The video link was with Les Sources college, Le Mans, and pupils in France and Bolton simultaneously swapped information in English and French.
Mrs Glen said: "We've had the video conferencing facility in the school for a couple of months now. But this is the most ambitious link we've tackled yet."
