THE BEN is proud to be at the forefront of the summer literacy programme at one of eight local schools.
As our story yesterday revealed, a struggling local child will be able to take extra English classes during the summer holidays thanks to this newspaper. We are the first local company to pay for an 11-year-old boy or girl from Bolton to attend the literacy programme.
We urge other businesses to follow our lead.
It is important that these children are able to have the extra tuition which they obviously need.
Reading is a basic skill which every child requires to progress through school.
By helping these children we are investing in Bolton's future.
