Chorley Harriers CONTINUING its policy to support local events, Chorley Harriers fielded strong teams for three events over the weekend.

A team of 26 runners turned out for the Rollersworth Roller. Run over five miles of variable terrain, the run always proves to be a popular event - the hot-pot after the race may help.

First home for the Harriers was Alan Alty in 25.14, while first lady Harrier was Claire Goulding in 31.30.

In a two-mile fun run aimed at encouraging new and younger runners, the Harriers turned out 22 juniors for the Daffodil Doddle.

And as part of their training for the London Marathon, three Harriers set out to tame the Lake District hills in the Dentdale 14.

On an undulating course Pete McDale came home in 1hr 43, Don Hesketh in 1hr 58 and Caroline Hesketh in 2hr 41.
