CHORLEY'S Bouyant Upholstery have good reason to feel bouyant - around 50 jobs at the site have been saved.

Receivers Arthur Anderson announced that they have found a buyer for the company, based at Mayfield Mill, Briercliffe Road, which went into receivership last month.

And James Worsley, of Arthur Anderson, said the new owners, Olympia Furniture, based in Nottingham, were the ideal firm to take over.

He said: "We received a lot of interest for from different buyers, but Olympia Furniture was the one that was best placed to move in."

Lindsay Hoyle MP, said: "This is great news. I am very pleased that all the jobs have been secured. I have been assured that there are going to be no redundancies and the workers at the site should feel safe.

"The company has been there for for the best part of thirty years and hopefully with this news the firm can go from strength to strength.

"The future is looking very bright for the company and I would like to wish them well. Who knows, hopefully they may be able to start taking people on."

Mr Hoyle campaigned on the company's behalf, holding meetings with the receivers, to stop further job losses after 15 jobs were cut last month.

James Worsley said: "Sadly, the workforce had been reduced in order to be compatible with the orders."

However Mr Hoyle said: "Because it was such a good, attractive business it wasn't hard to sell."

No one was available for comment at Olympia Furniture, a substantial supplier to Swedish retail giants IKEA.
