THE last Tango in Chorley? - not by a long chalk!

For one of London's most respected Tango tutors will be hot-footing it to Chorley this weekend to teach Chorley folk their left foot from their right.

Argentinian Tango expert Federico Mazandarani will be guiding folk through the basics on Saturday March 20 at Chorley's Woodlands Conference Centre in a four-hour workshop starting at 2pm.

The workshop has been supported by a grant from the Chorley and District Arts Association and, as a result, the cost to tango till teatime is a very cheap £5!

The Argentinian Tango is very similar to the ballroom Tango which most of us are used to. It originated in the brothels of Buenos Aires and it retains a deeply sensual character.

Although this dance is an integral part of Argentinian culture and history, it's a dance which everyone can join in and appreciate.

There are very few teachers of this style of Tango outside London, so this workshop represents a marvellous opportunity for Chorley folk to get stuck in!

One person who will be getting stuck in to the Tango workshop is Chorley's very own Tango expert, Allan Winstanley and his wife Wendy.

Allan said: "My wife and I have been interested in Tango for some time now, so we will definitely be attending the lessons.

"Federico is a very good teacher and dancer, so everybody who attends will learn at least something!"

The workshop has been organised by Chorley's Caribeno Dance Club as part of a series of workshops which will take place throughout the year.

Future workshops will include Salsa, merengue, lambada, cha-cha-cha and street samba.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your Latin lover and head off for Chorley's Woodlands Conference Centre. You'll be glad you did!
