choice THE FORMATION of a new political party, the Pro Euro Conservative party means that potential Conservative voters in the North West in the Euro elections in June will have a choice of two kinds of Conservatives to vote for. One, the new party, is favourable to Europe and to Britain joining the euro. The other is dogmatically opposed to Europe and all its works.
This ends a strange situation in which Conservatives, who still hold to the pro-Europe line which their party followed for thirty years, could effectively not go on voting for their own party, given its new line that Britain must not adopt the euro for at least eight years, no matter what changes in circumstances may occur, and that the party's candidates must stick to this line even if they personally oppose it, which some of them do.
