Radcliffe Boro 2 Whitley Bay 1 LEE Cryer made an excellent debut for the Boro on Saturday in his month's loan from Leigh RMI.

Stainton Park boss Kevin Glendon said of the former Atherton LR striker: "His movement off the ball was tremendous and he looks a really clever player. His link up with Paul Mullin was very pleasing and we need to make enquiries now over his elligibility for tonight's Unifilla semi final against Ashton United.

"It is the First Division Cup so he won't be cup-tied having been with RMI in the Premier but we have a slight doubt with him having joined us since the first leg was played." Midfielder Mark Dempsey returns after injury and Stuart Leicester from work commitments for a game Boro start tonight with a 3-1 deficit from the first leg.

Saturday's win saw Paul Mullin hit top form with both goals. The first came just before half time with a firm header from Levi Edwards' free kick. The visitors equalised on 55 minutes before Mullin finished it off on 64 minutes with a precision shot from David Bean's cross.

Striker Ian Lunt, having scored a hat-trick in the previous week's 3-0 away win at Netherfield Kendal, was left to muse on the vagaries of non-league football life as he sat on the subs bench. Nantwich Town 1 Atherton Colls 1

Atherton Colls eased relegation worries slightly with a hard earned draw at fellow strugglers Nantwich.

"It was a real scrap for vital points," admitted manager Alan Lord. "We had two players injured early on and they caught us out in the confusion as we tried to re-organise. In the second half we played very well, scored a great goal and I was very pleased that the lads showed the sort of character I've been after."

Gary Andrews had a game he'll want to forget. He came on as sub when Mark Fitton went over on his ankle, then was in a collision with teammate Luke Hardman and was stretchered off. He was taken to hospital for X-rays. This meant that before the interval Lord had used all three replacements. The equalising goal came on 65 minutes. A tempter of a through ball from the impressive Paul Griffin gave Colin Lomas the opportunity to control and bury into the bottom corner.

Man of the match was central defender Paul Cox. Colls have another relegation battle tomorrow night with fellow strugglers Glossop North End the visitors to Alder House. Atherton LR 1 Workington 2

Police had to be called to Atherton LR's Crilly Park ground on Saturday to quieten down a bunch of unruly and drunken away supporters.

The troublemakers have already been disowned by the Cumbrian club due to a similar occurrence early in the season and arrived in Atherton separate to the main party. LR officials were forced to act quickly and police arrived to escort the group off the ground and back on their way home.

"It was a real shame," said Rovers manager Steve Cunningham. "The game was good and never dirty but just these few left a bad taste. There was only eight or ten of them and the police sorted it out in no time." The visitors took the lead on 21 minutes when the entire LR defence stopped for an offside which wasn't given. Around the hour mark Dave Chadwick, the defender turned striker, scored a beauty to equalise only for Workington to take all three points with another fortunate finish.

"I have to have a big smile on my face just as at Mossley in midweek for the way we played," continued Cunningham. "We can go into tomorrow night's GOLDLINE Trophy game full of confidence with the form we have been showing. It was a really good team performance but Tony Smith at full back was outstanding."

Ramsbottom United had no game but are back in action tomorrow night with Maine Road the visitors to the Riverside Ground. Warrington Town 3 Daisy Hill 1

Daisy missed out on moving into the top ten as recent good form inexplicably disappeared.
