What would life be without colour to make our days so bright,
Can you imagine how depressing if always black or white?
Even if you are housebound, and spend days in your chair,
You can always see colours shining everywhere.
Look up, the sky can be from palest blue to grey,
To summer blue in sunshine but navy on a stormy day.
The flowers in the gardens, always a lovely show,
Brightly holding up their heads and bowing to and fro.
And even when it's raining, at present every day,
We flaunt our smart umbrellas, patterned bright and gay.
When colour was invented it surely took a 'master' mind,
To give such joy and pleasure and love to all mankind. By Mary Heppenstall
