THREE members of one family were successful in the annual West Pennine music Festival at Oldham recently.

Twins Ben and James Shepherd and their sister, six-year-old Abigail, all came away with prizes.

Ben and James, who are pupils at Turton High School, performed in the 14-16 years piano duet.

After successfully winning the class they were invited to perform in the prizewinners' concert and compete against winners in other instrument classes.

James and Ben also competed against 14 others in the piano solo class (14-16 years) and were awarded first and second place respectively.

Second and third places in the piano duet class were awarded to Rebecca Lowton (15) and Hannah Charnock (15), pupils at Canon Slade School and Turton High School and Rachel Dyson (15) and Amanda Bannister (16), pupils at Canon Slade and Bolton College.

The distinguished musician Professor George Pratt presented the prizes.

Abigail achieved third place in the piano solo class.

All these successful students are pupils of Jacqueline Tinniswood.
