I'M sure Councillor Foster has not tried to get a train from Bolton to Manchester in the morning rush hour. My daughter travels regularly on this route on the 7.56am train - that is, if she can get on it. Sometimes the train is only two carriages long and already full to capacity when it reaches Bolton. When you do manage to get on a train, you often have to stand all the way to Manchester. Perhaps this is why people prefer the comfort of their own car.
Before the councillor advises people to try alternative modes of transport, he should try them out first.
