A TEAM of American ghostbusters are spiriting their way to Chorley next week to see whether anything goes bump in the night . . .
Parapsychologist Dr Larry Montz and a team of scientists, mediums and psychics, based in Hollywood, California, will conduct a major investigation into paranormal phenomena at the Euxton Mills pub on Wigan Road, Euxton.
Staff and regulars at the 18th century old boozer claim to have seen a ghostly grey lady walking through the walls of the one-time old coaching house.
Barman Phil Edmonson, 37, who has worked at the Euxton Mills pub since last October, said: "In recent years, staff have seen what they can only describe as an old lady walking through walls in the back room of the pub which incidentally used to be a stable block.
"It has been mainly staff who have seen these apparitions, but some of our regulars have also witnessed spooky happenings.
"Some say that they have occasionally felt a cold presence in the bar late at night, while others say they have felt something cold brush past them."
The team of ghostbusters are in the country conducting a series of investigations being filmed for American network TV.
As well as visiting Euxton, the parapsychologists will descend on Belgrave Hall, Leicester, where CCTV cameras have recently captured ghostly images which were featured on many regional TV news bulletins.
Head of the International Society for Paranormal Research, Dr Larry Montz has just appointed local author John Sutton as the team's research executive.
Mr Sutton, 49, from Connery Meadow, Clayton-le-Woods, who has written several books on the paranormal, said: "A number of strange occurrences have been reported around the ladies toilet area in the pub.
"We will be using equipment such as a magnetometer which will pick up any energy fields and also infra-red which will register subtle changes in temperature.
"Hopefully, if anything strange happens at Euxton Mills, then we will be able to pick it up."
The investigation into the mystery of Euxton Mills' 'grey lady' will take place on Monday March 29 at 10.30am.
This study of the paranormal will be filmed for an American TV series on the work of Dr Montz and his research team.
