YEAR 10 pupils from Albany High School have organised a small business
named Heavenly as part of the Young Enterprise Competition.
From September to December the pupils made CD clocks. During December the clocks were on sale at £2.99 each.
Some £250 has been raised by selling shares in the company. This was the maximum that could be raised by the group.
The clocks have now stopped being sold and the business is now concentrating on the production and sale of hand-crafted cards.
To communicate with the shareholders there will be a newsletter printed. This small business is improving all the time.
Heavenly is a challenge for all the pupils involved and they are enjoying
the hard work!
The pupils have put a lot of effort into making the business successful. They spend a lot of time both at lunchtime and in their own time discussing ideas.
The team meets every Wednesday after school for board meetings, pictured.
On January 27, there was an interim presentation held at the Vertex
Conference Centre on Little Carr Lane.
The pupils who attended this presentation were Holly Pincock, Tracy Hartley, Suzanne Sharples, Helen Close, Andrew Raper and Gary Heyes. Miss Lomax supervised them.
There were nine other schools involved in the presentation and each team had five minutes to explain their product and business plans to the audience.
In the future the team from Heavenly will be sitting an exam to give them a recognised qualification as part of the competition.
