ON Tuesday March 16, 1999, Albany High School was involved in an indoor cricket match at Lostock Hall High School.

In this brand new tournament, Albany had to play four games - two against Parklands and two against St Mary's High School.

The rules were very different from an outdoor game of cricket with each batting team trying to score as many runs as possible in nine overs.

The teams found the rules difficult at first but once they had adapted, some very exciting games took place.

In Albany's first game, Parklands proved much to strong and ran out easy winners scoring 123 runs to Albany's 65.

In the second game there was a superb catch by Marc Critchley off Andrew Holdsworth's accurate bowling which ensured a narrow victory for Albany over St Mary's, with the scores being 122 and 119 respectively.

The third game rematch between Albany and Parklands was very close and even.

In Albany's final game the whole team played very well and secured a comfortable victory over St Mary's ensuring second place in the tournament.
