IN the Chorley and District Alliance Football League, George had a good 4-1 away win at Brindle St Joseph's - keeping them in contention for league honours at the end of the season.
K Draper scored three for George, with A Murphy getting the fourth.
Cardwell are another team with their eyes on league honours. They had a good win at home at Adlington against Jerry's 6-1. M Thompson scored four for the winners.
Chorley St Joseph's made Red Herring 'A', the current league leaders, fight all the way for their three points.
The teams were level at half time with a goal each, but eventually Red Herring proved just the stronger in the second half to win 6-3. W McFayden and S Woodcock each scored twice for Red Herring, with the other two coming from G Hartley and G Dale. M McMullen, N Walker and S Hodgy scored for Chorley St Joseph's.
Market Tavern, although scoring first, found Hop Pocket much too strong for them. They were behind 7-1 at half-time and finally lost 16-1.
Red Herring 'B' and Euxton WMI shared the points with a 2-2 draw. This was a good performance by the Euxton side and they appear to be finding some form over their last few games. M Whittle scored both the Red Herring goals and Winrow and an own goal evened up the score for Euxton WMI.
Fixtures, Saturday: Euxton WMI v Brindle St Joseph's; George v Red Herring 'A'; Hop Pocket v Market Tavern; Jerry's v Chorley St Joseph's; Red Herring 'B' v Bretherton Wanderers.
