Adlington Rangers 60 Halton Hornets 34
THE previous week's lay off seemed to work well for Rangers. Despite a few team changes, they played well and produced some good, flowing rugby - with the forwards on top and making the breaks for the three-quarters to run on to.
Rangers made a slow start and a series of penalties for offside led to Hornets taking the lead with a good converted try.
From the next scrum, Carl Hough made a break and passed to centre Paul Cookson who weaved his way through for a try, converteded by Parker.
More good passing opened up the Hornets defence again and half back Parker nipped in for a try himself which he converted.
Then forward Neil Prescott crashed through off a pass by Parker to score another converted try.
Prop Carl Briscoe slipped a ball out for Prescott to shoot in for his second try goaled by Parker.
Hornets struck back with two quick tries and goals to make it 24-18 at half time.
After the break the Rangers forwards dominated again. Martin Whittle and Carl Hough ran well, backed up by Lee Rogers and Carl Briscoe, who took a neat pass inside from Carl Hough to race over behind the sticks.
Two minutes later it was a repeat, with Parker supplying the pass for Briscoe to go in again.
Hornets came back when a missed tackle let them through again for a try and a goal. Rangers stand off Phil Moss dummied his way through for a try, goaled by Parker, before Neil Prescott backed up a good break by Hough to score his hat trick, again goaled by Parker.
Hornets hit back with a try and goal, but Rangers' Phil Moss ran in his second try, goaled by Parker.
Rangers went on the attack again and had Hornets back pedalling. Parker slipped an inside pass to centre David Brooks who ran in behind the posts to score a try converted by Parker.
Hornets scored an unconverted try to make the final score 60-34.
Rangers' man-of-the-match was Neil Prescott, closely followed by Carl Parker and Carl Briscoe.

THIS turned out to be a very closely fought match which went down to the wire. Rangers got away to a good start when Kev Williams touched down, the conversion coming from Martin Hill.
The Wiganers' line was breached again for Amwyl to score wide out.
Then Bridge got on the scoresheet with a controversial try after what appeared a double movement. The kick was successful.
But Rangers pulled further ahead with a try from Lee Hurst , with Hill converting to make the half time score 16-6.
After the interval, Bridge piled on the pressure and scored a try and goal.
Rangers fought back and stand off Terry Meadows broke through with a good dummy to race in for a try goaled by Hill.
Bridge scored two unconverted tries to make it 22-20 to Rangers.
Then came Rangers' match-winning try. Gary Prescott dashed from 35 yards out and despite being caught near the line, forced his way over.
In the dying minutes, Bridge went over in the corner but the goal attempt failed and Rangers won by two points.
Rangers' man-of-the-match was Stewart Amwyl, closely followed by Paul Cadman and Mark Lowe.
This weekend Rangers 'A' are at home to Royton Tigers.
