CHORLEY folk with old inefficient fridges may be able to get a brand new fridge for only £25 - courtesy of the Fridgesaver scheme.
Following the success of previous awareness campaigns, Lancashire County Council has received over 2,000 applications from people all over the county for replacement fridges.
Now, Lancashire Trading Standards Department is again helping Chorley consumers who receive state benefits to apply for a new, energy efficient fridge for only £25.
Fridgesavers are supported by the regional electrical companies and seek to replace old or damaged fridges which use too much electricity with brand new ones valued at £120.
The scheme only applies to old fridges with ice compartments, but not freezers, and is open to people in receipt of any of the following benefits:

ZHousing Benefit
ZCouncil Tax Benefit
ZDisability Living Allowance
ZDisability Working Allowance
ZIncapacity Benefit
ZAttendance Allowance
ZSevere Disablement Allowance
ZIndustrial Injuries Disablement Allowance
ZWar Disablement Pension
ZState Pension as your only income
Lancashire County Council's Trading Standards Department is distributing application forms on behalf of the Energy Savings Trust.
The Department has 500 application forms for distribution on a first come first served basis.
The following hotline (01772) 262146 has been set up so applicants can leave their name and address. The phoneline will be open between 8.45am and 5pm and forms will be sent within five working days
