LINSDAY Hoyle MP has seen the future - and the future is Liquefied Petroleum Gas, the fuel of tomorrow.
Following a successful outcome in this month's Budget for this viable alternative fuel over petrol and diesel, MPs, including Mr Hoyle, have test driven cars powered on LPG to see the benefits for themselves.
With a reduction of 29 per cent on the duty of Liquefied Petroleum Gas and an increase on petrol and diesel, it is without doubt fuel that doesn't cost the earth.
Lindsay Hoyle said: "There is nothing more important than the quality of our air. LPG offers not only vastly reduced emissions, but also high performance at lower cost than petrol and diesel.
"The market in the UK is now ready for take off following the cut in duty."
Calor Autogas, a leading UK supplier of LPG, provided the vehicles for the test drives.
All those who put the car through its paces were impressed and pleasantly surprised to find that performance is not affected by the use of the environmentally friendly fuel.
Paul Oxford, general manager for Calor Autogas, said: "This duty reduction on Liquefied Petroleum Gas is a generous concession by the government, and it will be a major move towards creating a significant self-sustaining market in the UK for this environmentally friendly road fuel gas.
"By switching to LPG, fleet operators will now see increasing economic sense as well as being safe in the knowledge that they are making a sound environmental choice."
