ON Friday February 12, the pupils and staff from Albany High School took part in a Valentine Spectacular to raise money for local charities and to provide support for the sale of Gold Hearts by the Variety Club of Great Britain.
The highlight of the day was a Blind Date Special featuring members of Year 11 and staff.
Based on the popular television series, 250 spectators paid for tickets to witness this extravaganza complete with our very own 'Silly Black' (Miss Barrington) and 'Our Graham' (Mrs Dobson).
Year 11 pupil Daniel Mather had to choose from three lovely ladies - Elizabeth Draper, Kathryn Edwards and Anthony Gaskell.
After a series of searching questions, Daniel picked number three - Anthony Gaskell! Their prize was a romantic meal in the school canteen!
Teacher Miss Donnelly had to pick from three lovely lads - Mr Howard, Mr Curry and Mr Hartley.
Swayed by popular opinion and his witty comments she picked Mr Howard for a dream date to Hothersall Lodge with the Geography Department!
The event was enjoyed by all pupils and more importantly money was raised for worthwhile causes.
During morning registration, forms were swamped with deliveries of red roses.
Our first ever Valentine Delivery Service proved to be very popular and more than 150 pupils ordered red velvet roses wrapped and tied with a bow for £1 to send to their loved ones.
The roses were supplied by Easthams Florist, in Chorley. Messages were written and the roses delivered by members of 7JN during morning registration.
Pupils were extremely pleased to receive these tokens and were seen carrying them round all day!
