SIX year 10 students are setting sail with The Ocean Youth Club.
Three of the pupils sailed with them last year and they are very keen to go again.
On March 21 Mrs Toase will take Kerry Marshall, Kristel Walker, Christopher Davies, Ashling Woodcock and Michael Mead to Broadstairs on the Isle of Thanet in Kent.
They will stay overnight at the Broadstairs YHA and then drive along the coast to Ramsgate where they will join their boat.
They are sailing on the Spirit of Boadicea - a London-based boat, and they hope to be sailing across to France, weather permitting. All pupils have been asked to take their passports just in case.
None of the pupils have been put off by the poor weather at this time of
year. All pupils are very excited about this voyage.
Each pupil will have a Royal Yachting Association logbook in which sailing qualifications are written up and signed by The Captain as they achieve them.
It is not a holiday. They will form part of the crew and they will be expected to help sail the boat. Spirit of Boadicea will be docking in various ports along the way and Mrs Toase will pick them up at Chatham on Sunday March 28.
It promises to be quite an adventure!
