THE former home of Sir Geoffrey and Lady Hulton on the edge of Hulton Park is up for sale.

The house is being advertised asking for offers of more than £375,000.

It is described as: "A unique family house with Queen Anne origins and superb views over parkland. About 1.5 acres."

The property comprises of a hall, drawing room, dining room, morning room, sitting room, study, kitchen, four bedrooms, dressing room, three bathrooms, office, garaging for two, potting sheds, gardens and woodland.

The house backs on to the A6, but the front looks out on to Hulton Park.

A spokesman for Harrogate-based Strutt and Parker who are one of two joint agents for the property said that there had already been "substantial" interest even though it has only been on the market a couple of weeks.

The property became the Hulton's family home after the ancestral mansion in the grounds of the park was demolished in 1960.

Inherited

Sir Geoffrey died in 1993 and Lady Mary lived there until her death last year.

Land which he owned in the area has been inherited by two nephews and a niece.

Hulton Park is Green Belt land and cannot be built on.

But there has already been uproar over a planning application submitted by a chartered surveyor acting on behalf of one nephew Neil Butterfield, of Petersfield, Hampshire, for 1,100 homes on land at Lee Hall off Park Road, Westhoughton.
