MURDER squad detectives were today probing the death of a 50-year-old father after trouble outside a Horwich take-away last night.

The man, who was married with a son, died at the Royal Bolton Hospital after collapsing at his home in Horwich.

It is believed the man, who has not been named, had called at the NightBar Pizza Kebab and Grill on Lee Lane, in Horwich town centre, to see the owner about business.

While he was in the shop, the man heard a group of teenagers between about 14 and 18 years old, causing a disturbance outside.

After going outside to remonstrate with the group, it is thought the man sustained some kind of injury.

The man then jumped into his car and made his way home but collapsed shortly afterwards.

He was then taken the Royal Bolton Hospital where he died shortly afterwards. Today a post mortem examination was being carried out to establish the cause of death.

The scene of the incident was still cordoned off today and police officers have kept guard throughout the night.

Scene of crime officers were working at the scene this morning and senior detectives were drafted in. Detective Chief Inspector John Tyrer said he was anxious to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the NightBar Pizza Kebab and Grill shortly before 10.36 last night.

No-one was available at the take-away to comment today.

An incident room has been set up at Horwich police station and anyone who has any information should contact the investigating team on 0161 856 5785.
