LEIGH Centurions will be shooting for the top over Easter. Now firmly secured two points clear in third place in the Northern Ford Premiership, the cock-a-hoop Centurions want to end the Easter programme on top of the table.

"I've just spoken to the players about the tough Easter games against Widnes and Oldham and asked them what they wanted to achieve," Millward revealed after yesterday's runaway victory at Barrow.

"To a man they all said ' four points and top of the table'. That's not being big headed, that shows ambition and belief that they can go on with the job."

But Millward knows that two games in four days is a big ask of his players. "Widnes at home on Good Friday will be tough. They're up there with us and scrapping for points at the top. After the cup tie at their place a few weeks ago we know what to expect.

"After that it's Oldham away on a poor pitch at Rochdale. I'm not expecting that to be a cakewalk. But if we can pick up four points from our next two games it will set us up nicely for the next part of the season." Meanwhile Leigh are hoping to fend off interest from Lancashire Lynx for reserve team skipper and half-back Sheldon Hannon. The Lynx fancy Hannon as the replacement for Phil Jones who joined Wigan for a reported £35,000 on Saturday.

Leigh have already seen two of their released players, Jason O'Loughlin and Shaun Geritas join the Lynx.
