PHYLLIS Mitchell has spent 50 years with Farnworth AODS.
She has not been involved with any other society, and her husband, Roy, is now chairman of Farnworth.
Although Phyllis joined the society in 1948, her first performance was not until the following year.
In 1950, she played the lead female role in Vagabond King opposite a young Frank Finlay who was a member of the society at that time.
Phyllis played more principal roles, alternating with chorus work.
Recently she has been seen in Farnworth AODS revues.
Many people will remember her for the role of the Countess Vera in King's Rhapsody.
When she is not appearing on stage, Phyllis helps in behind the scenes and has recently taken the role of "Prompt". During show week she is usually found at front of house. Phyllis, like the rest of the society, has been hard at work for Hit the Deck which Farnworth are staging from April 19 to 24 at the Albert Halls, Bolton.
During the run Phyllis will be presented with her 50 yeasrs' NODA badge.
The society describe the show as "...a naughty, nautical tale of fun and laughter on the high seas and in colourful China."
They guarantee that audiences will go home whistling the well-known tunes which were heard in the original show and in the 1950s' film Follow the Fleet starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
