I REFER to the letter in the "Your Views" column on Saturday, March 20, from the former Mayor of Westhoughton - Cllr Kath Dawson.
It is beyond belief that the members of Westhoughton Council can make such petty-minded remarks against this very hard-working and dedicated lady.
How can they justify themselves by saying their comments were not meant to be personal, when it is patently obvious to any fair minded person this is how they were directed. Anyone who works as hard and consistently as Cllr Dawson must surely deserve at least a 'thank you' and a pat on the back.
I know from personal experience that Cllr Dawson's main aim is, and always has been, to do her very best for the Westhoughton community and the fact she has worked tirelessly in her Mayoral year to raise the magnificent sum of almost £7000 speaks for itself.
I should like to say to Cllr Dawson "well-done" and carry on the good work despite the petty jealousies which seem to be present among our elected council members.
