PNE Ladies FC 4 Chorley Ladies 0 CHORLEY suffered a rare defeat at the hands of Preston North End and will no doubt blame a muddy pitch and swirling wind. Preston are obviously used to these conditions and learned to cope more quickly and adapt their play accordingly.
In the first half, Chorley had the wind behind them and although they enjoyed the vast amount of play, they failed to make the most of it.
Within 10 minutes they had two good goal scoring opportunities when beating a capable defence, but not Debbie Cowell in goal, who had an excellent game.
Preston started to apply the pressure in the second half and scored their first two goals from corners.
Thenthree Chorley defenders missed easy tackles presenting the simplest of chances to the Preston striker Catherine Barker.
Five minutes form time, Preston added a fourth from a penalty.
This weekend they face league leaders Mond Rangers and will have to make a dramatic improvement if they are to get a favourable result.
However, they do enjoy home advantage and their record at Charter Lane is impressive. Kick off for this crucial match is 2pm .
Chorley Ladies have launched an under 12 and under 14 team this season and are still on the lookout for more players and coaching staff.
Anyone interested should attend the training session at Charnock Richard FC, Charter Lane, between 10.30am and noon on Saturdays, or contact Tracey Kenyon on 01257 274657.
