WANDERERS' travelling support will be swelled by at least 15 at Oxford tomorrow as a result of Steve Banks' deadline day transfer from Blackpool. That's the average contingent of family and friends who watch the Hillingdon-born keeper when he's playing in the South.
"My family and my in-laws always try to get to see me play," Banks explained. "There's usually 15, sometimes more."
But the keeper, who started with West Ham and made his name with Gillingham before Sam Allardyce took him to Bloomfield Road, was taking nothing for granted until he'd seen his name on the team sheet.
"All I can do is work as hard as I can," he said. "It's entirely up to the manager, whether he wants to pick me or not."
