A MAWDESLEY man died after the dumper truck he was driving fell into a ditch and trapped him.
Phillip Butt, 39, of Anderton's Mill, Mawdesley, was working at the home of Craig Winstanley, of Douglas Villa, Meadow Lane, on Saturday, March 27, when the accident happened at around 6.20pm.
Mr Butt and Christopher Tyson, 23, of Sanderson Lane, Heskin, were helping Mr Winstanley to demolish a disused shed.
The dumper truck had been loaded with wood and was being driven toward the site of a nearby bonfire when it veered into a drainage ditch and fell on top of the victim.
Mr Butt is believed to have drowned in the water filled ditch.
A police spokesperson said the coroner had been informed.
