BOLTON Workers Educational Association is holding a series of music appreciation sessions.
A short course of six meetings will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 1.45pm to 3.45 pm in the lecture theatre of the Central Library, Bolton, starting on Tuesday, April 13.
The tutor, Dr Gareth Curtis from the University of Manchester, is well known throughout the North-west and is a popular music lecturer.
The course will start with some of the people and institutions who have employed well known composers of classical music.
It will then explore how the tastes and requirements of these patrons have affected the music written for them.
The music covered will include various musical styles including orchestral, piano and choral. Composers will include Haydn, Bach, Chopin and others.
The enrolment fee is £17.70-concessions £14.10 and this can be paid at the first meeting.
