BOLTON is bracing itself for an exciting day of exotic entertainment with news that the Streets Ahead Festival is coming to town.
Street performers from all over the globe will converge on Bolton town centre on Sunday, May 30.
Streets Ahead is a month-long festival held throughout Greater Manchester. Town centres throughout the region each host a spectacular festival of street entertainment, in a similar vein to the Rio Carnival or a continental fiesta.
The combined efforts of the Greater Manchester districts means that a full bill of top quality national and international acts perform throughout the festival.
Cllr Gerald Riley, Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee, said: "Last year was the first time Bolton took part in Streets Ahead and thousands of people turned up to witness what turned out to be a very special day.
"Building on the success of last year should to ensure that this year's festival is bigger and better."
A complete list of acts will soon be released, but the festival will include a variety of music, dance, mime, street theatre, and comedy.
Acts perform at four sites simultaneously, while a number of walking attractions help create a unique party atmosphere.
Anne Tucker, of Manchester International Arts, said: "We guarantee Sunday, May 30, will be a fun-filled family fiesta."
