I OFTEN wonder when reading of the plans to make our town more beautiful, why do the people concerned never do anything to enhance that old building on Marsden Road - the fire station of the past?
I am not aware of whether it was purchased by anyone since going out of its original purpose, but it has sadly become a target now for missiles to be thrown etc. Also druggies hang around, as is often the case these days.
It is in close proximity to St Edmund's Church and, with vandalism to contend with, must be an added worry. Maybe some councillor or MP could answer as to what future ideas the powers that be have in mind concerning its use?
It will not serve to encourage anyone visiting if it's left to fall further into disrepair.
