WITH reference to the NSPCC article in the BEN (March 25, pages 28/29) - 'Opening our eyes to the horror of child abuse' - then reading the report on page five that Judge Geake had allowed a sex offender to walk free. It makes one wonder what is happening in this country.

Like any gamble, you either win or lose. This sex pest gambled his vocation and respect and lost. You can't have what you have lost, so his job went, and a person of his supposed intelligence must have known this beforehand.

Then, of course, comes retribution for his crime for which Judge Geake awarded him 100 hours' community service. Please send the judge a copy of this issue of the BEN so he can see what he has done.

The judge felt loss of this sex pest's job was punishment in itself. The common sense view suggests that he didn't lose his job - he threw it away.

What a pity that the judiciary in this country, with its nonsensical idea of punishment, is making it a fact that 'crime does pay'.
