BOLTON social services bosses are set to get almost £200,000 to boost services to help one of the most disadvantaged groups in society.
The council is optimistic its bid for new funding from the Government should see around £192,000 more invested in services to help people with mental health problems.
Dementia
It is planned to spend the money on providing extra support for people living in the community and helping GPs to cope with patients with mental health problems.
The department is also planning to set some of the expected allocation aside to meet the needs of elderly people with dementia.
Cllr Cliff Morris, chairman of the social services committee, said: "We very much welcome the Government's commitment to making mental health services more safe, sound and supportive and the additional funds being provided to meet that commitment.
"We are very keen to make an impact with this money and will be targeting the most needy groups of people."
