COLIN Todd has dismissed a Bradford City approach for Per Frandsen as an insult to the Denmark international.

The Wanderers boss described the offer from the Premiership new boys as "a slur on the player's ability."

The audacious bid - details of which have been kept under wraps by both clubs - came in the form of a phone call from Bantams chairman Geoffrey Richmond.

"It was an insult in terms of what was offered," Todd explained today. "Nothing will happen on that score."

Frandsen, who returned to training yesterday after an extended summer break, is entitled to speak to other clubs under the terms of a clause in his contract. But Wanderers, despite needing to offload players before they can make a move for new recruits, are understood to have had no serious approaches - other than Bradford's - for the 28-year-old midfield dynamo who is worth around 10 times the £300,000 free he cost when he signed form FC Copenhagen three years ago.

Southampton remain the club most likely to offer Frandsen a return to the Premiership but, for now, the Dane and Mark Fish - who is in a similar contractual position - remain Bolton players.

Neither, however, will figure in tomorrow's opening pre-season fixture at Stoke.

Fish is still on holiday in South Africa after being given a further extension to his summer break.

Argentine trialist Juan Corbian is expected to play in the Britannia Stadium friendly.

"He's in the squad and, provided everything is okay, he will play," Todd confirmed after the 23-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Boca Juniors full-back started his second week of training with the Wanderers.

Jussi Jaaskelainen will start the first of a five-match friendly series as his two rivals for the goalkeeping position start the warm-up programme on the sidelines.

Steve Banks, who replaced the Finland international last season after his £50,000 deadline day transfer from Blackpool, is still recovering from a doluble hernia operation and Keith Branagan has a hamstring problem.

Matt Glennon has been drafted into the squad.

New Stoke boss Gary Megson has had talks with transfer-listed duo Larus Sigurdsson and Kyle Lightbourne in an effort to assess their future prospects.
