THE result of the Ofsted report on Affetside Primary School will confirm the suspicions of many people that big is not necessarily beautiful in education.
The village school with just 65 pupils has managed to improve its standards in the last three years, with children achieving well above national standards in maths and science. Staff also got full marks for their teaching and were deemed caring and supportive.
The physical size of the school appears to be a problem only in accommodation and providing IT facilities. Education chiefs have promised to help, and we hope that the encouragement continues for a school earning top marks.
