A NEW bid has been launched to find the brutal killer of Bury pensioner Shirley Leach.
A Sunday newspaper has offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer. Mrs Leach, aged 66, was discovered strangled and sexually assaulted in the toilets at Bury interchange on January 7, 1994.
Former deputy chief constable of Greater Manchester, John Stalker, launched the new appeal in the Sunday People.
Mrs Leach was on her way home from visiting her daughter in hospital when the vicious attack happened.
Despite DNA testing on 300 local men and interviews with more than 700 witnesses the case has not been solved.
Anyone with information about the murder should call Bury CID on 0161 856 8150 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
