I HAVE read with interest the recent articles and letters concerning local public transport and the plans to axe Bolton Trinity Street Station from the country's long distance rail network.
I recently wrote to GMPTE, the local transport authority, regarding these matters.
They said they are currently examining with Railtrack and the local train operator First North Western how they can improve the key areas of: passenger information; passenger security and passenger access.
I also wrote to the local train operator, First North Western, regarding the same matters. This company is currently planning to axe the number of station staff in the Bolton, Stalybridge and Salford areas from 32 to 15.
