WHILE taking a walk the other night, I got talking to two of the people who suffered flood damage from the recent storm.
Their carpets and belongings were outside their homes sodden. It must have been a nightmare.
The man and his wife said the drains overflow regularly in heavy rain, and they have reported them often, but nothing has been done.
On contacting the council this time, their answer was "It's not our responsibility."
The gate from the drain culvert was blocked. I also noticed the drains at Pilkington Road, Bolton Road blocked, and the subway drains blocked, all in Kearsley which are blocked regularly. Whose responsibility is this?
I can remember when the brook used to flow down by the side of Stoneclough Road years ago. I never recall it being blocked then.
Since then it's been filled in and houses built over it. I wonder who collects their Council Tax?
I was told by the residents only one councillor came down to hear and see their problems.
Guess who that was - yes J R, old faithful Councillor Rothwell.
