THE latest quarterly economic survey from the British Chambers of Commerce suggests that the UK economy is now on track towards recovery.
Richard Bindless, chief executive of Bolton and Bury Chamber, said: "Local economic trends appear to be in line with the national picture. Local companies are generally more positive about the future. The interest rate cuts since autumn have eased pressures in both sectors and there are visible signs of recovery.
"Our manufacturing industry remains fragile, however, and the strong pound continues to hamper progress.
"Only time will tell, but the figures support the view that the worst may be over."
